Carolina:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of
employment which were free
from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or
serious physical harm to
employees in that employees were exposed to:
a)Jiffy Lube Store # 2739 - two Hennessy Industries, Inc. Ammco hydraulic
lifts
with model number B4120SW and serial numbers P961121611 and P961021382
with capacities of 12000 pounds that were used to lift vehicles under which
employees worked and the lifts had not had a periodic qualified inspection
at least
annually.
One feasible abatement method would be to follow the guidelines set forth
in the ANSI/ALOIM-1994 "American National Standard for Automotive Lifts -
Safety Requirements For Operation,
Inspection, and Maintenance", which was adopted by the Automotive Lift
Institute, Inc., a trade
organization representing the Automotive Service Industry.  Included in
the "Periodic Qualified
Inspection" section are guidelines on "Qualified Inspection Frequency".
