Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:

El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
At the Academic Laboratory Center (CLA) - employees were exposed to 1,396
CFU/m3 of fungi
and bacterias in air, 396 CFU/m3 above the contamination indicator level
of 1,000 CFU/m3. The
sampling date was 05-04-04.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct
is to:
correct the water filtration of the roof.
remove out of the area contaminated materials and equipment.
descontaminate the walls and floor.  Precautions shall be taken to not
expose
employees to chemicals substances.
Provide continous maintenance to keep the area as clean as posible.
Hazard: Exposure to airbone microorganisms over the acceptable level.
En el Centro Laboratorio Academico (CLA) - empleados estaban expuestos a
1,396 CFU/m3 de
hongos y bacterias en el aire, 396 CFU/m3 sobre el nivel indicador de
contaminacion de 1,000
CFU/m3. La fecha del muestreo fue el 05-04-04.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo  posible y aceptable para corregir es:
Corregir las filtraciones de agua del techo.
Remover fuera del area material y equipo contaminado.
Descontaminar las paredes y piso.  Precauciones deben ser tomadas para no
exponer los empleados a substancias quimicas.
Proveer mantenimiento continuo para conservar el area tan limpia como sea
posible.
Riesgo: Exposicion a microorganismos en el aire sobre el nivel
aceptable.ismos
