Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Maintenance Department, South Wall - The Grob vertical band saw was not equipped with a magnetic restarter or similar device as prescribed by the American National Standard Institute for Metal Cutting Saws, ANSI B11.10 - 1990, Section 5.2.3.4, that in event on interruption in the electrical supply, would prevent the saw from restarting automatically when power is restored. Employees last used the vertical band saw on or about November 5, 2003. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
