Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards in the engine room: (a)O'Hara Corporation (F/T Defender) Engine Room and Galley: On or about January 30, 2009, unqualified employees were exposed to electrical shock hazards due to several unguarded openings exposing energized busbars and inadequate labeling on four of the 220V 100 amp panels serving the galley and engineroom. Among other methods, a feasible means of abatement would include protecting open circuits with a cover as required by the 2008 NEC article 110.27(A)(2) and legibly labeling disconnects within panels as required by the 2008 NEC 110.22(A).
