Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical shock hazards. (a)US Fishing LLC (F/T Intrepid Engine Controlroom): On or about February 8, 2010, employees were exposed to an electrical shock hazard caused by multiple articles of equipment including clothing, test equipment, LOTO equipment, tools and a Softride exercise bike which were stored in front of the main electrical panels accessed by employees. (b)US Fishing LLC (F/T Intrepid Breakroom): On or about February 8, 2010, employees were exposed to an electrical shock hazard caused by an unused opening for the TimeClock Bait Freezer measuring 2 1/4"x 3/4" in the 240V P2 panel accessed by employees. (c)US Fishing LLC (F/T Intrepid Galley): On or about February 8, 2010, employees were exposed to an electrical shock hazard caused by an unused opening for the unlabeled disconnect #21-23-25 measuring 2 1/4"x 3/4" in the 120V L2 Main Deck Lighting panel accessed by employees. One feasible method of abatement might be to maintain good housekeeping in all areas where electrical equipment is located and to ensure that all energized electrical devices and components are properly guarded to protect employees from accidental contact.
