North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: being struck by a suspended load on a hydraulic/pneumatic vehicle lift. a)auto bay 1 and 2 - periodic inspection procedures were not being conducted by a qualified inspector, in accordance with the manufacturer recommendation or the Automotive Lift Institute, Inc. (ALI) , to assure the continued safe operation of the lift cush as system leaks and the proper function of the safety lock One feasible method of abatement is to establish a procedure form either the manufacturer's recommendations of the lift or from the ANSI B153.1-1981 6.33.1-1981

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: being struck by a suspended load on a hydraulic/pneumatic vehicle lift. a)auto bay 1 - the lift locks on the upper limit of the hydriodic/pneumatic lifts were not furnished with a working lock set as the latch was rusted in place and would not engage either automatically or by hand b)auto bay 2 - the lift locks on the upper limit of the hydriodic/pneumatic lifts were not furnished with a working lock set as the latch was loose and would not engage either automatically or by hand with out slipping and allowing the unit to fall One feasible method of abatement is to maintain the lift locking system in proper operational condition, allowing the operator to use all the applicable safety features provided on the lift, in accordance with either the manufacturer's recommendations or the ANSI B153.1-1981 3.2.11-1981
