employees were exposed to an unstable working surface:
(a)The Quikrete Companies, at 2660 West 64th Avenue, Denver, CO: On
9/20/05 and preceding, operators of the C-Line Quikrete packaging operation
were exposed to an unstable working surface, in that the conveyor belt upon
which the packages travel is approximately six inches beneath the feet of
the
operator.  The operator's seat is positioned directly above the conveyor.
An
operator standing up during conveyor operation is exposed to the unstable
working surface of the moving conveyor.  The velocity of the conveyor is
approximately two feet per second.  This condition exposed two employees to
a physical injury hazard.
(b)The Quikrete Companies, at 2660 West 64th Avenue, Denver, CO: On
9/20/05 and preceding, operators of the Q-Lines Quikrete packaging
operation
were exposed to unstable working surfaces, in that the conveyor belts upon
which the packages travel is approximately six inches beneath the feet of
the
operators.  The operator's seats are positioned directly above the
conveyors.
An operator standing up during conveyor operation is exposed to the
unstable
working surface of the moving conveyor.  The velocity of the conveyors is
approximately two feet per second.  This condition exposed three employees
to
a physical injury hazard.
Abatement Note:  Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method
to correct this
hazard is to provide operator seat pressure sensors interlocked with the
emergency stop of
the conveyor.
