Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish to each of
his employees employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were exposed to:
(a) On or about August 14, 2007, timber tongs (lifting tongs) were
improperly used to lift generators,
concrete chutes and prefabricated, wood concrete forms, contrary to the
recommendation and
limitations placed on the timber tongs by the manufacturer.  Additionally
a single side of the tongs was
used to hook onto the generator and onto the concrete chute (bucket).
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is to use
approved lifting devices such as slings and hooks.
