Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Front of Building 6, 2nd floor, door: An unmarked door with panic hardware exposed employees to falls of approximately 12 to 13 feet to the loading docks of building 6. The door was not locked and it opened into thin air because the outside landing and stairway had been removed. AMONG OTHERS ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Seal or lock this door and provide signage indicating "Not an Exit". IN THE ALTERNATIVE: 29 CFR 1910.23(c)(1): Open sided floor(s) or platform(s) 4 feet or more above adjacent floor or ground level were not provided with toeboards where required: a)Front of Building 6, 2nd floor, door: An unmarked door with panic hardware exposed employees to falls of approximately 12 to 13 feet to the loading docks of building 6. The door was not locked and it opened into thin air because the outside landing and stairway had been removed. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
