North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)Manufacturing area -- a 100 pound Jib crane, serial number A61458, was overloaded with a 250 pound "CM" hoist. Reference:ANSI B30.11-1998, Chapter 11-1, Section 11-1.1, Paragraph 11-1.1.2 Note:Among other methods of abatement of this hazard is to use only a 100 pound hoist with the jib crane.

North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)Facility wide -- under-the-hook lifting devices were not rated for the max loads that could be supported by the cranes in that the devices were constantly left attached to the hoists. Most devices were rated at 75 pounds and the hoists were rated at 500 pounds to 2000 pounds. Reference: ANSI B30.20-1985, Chapter 20-1, Section 20-1.2, Paragraph 20-1.2.2 Note:Among other methods of abatement of this hazard is to use each device for the intended purpose, not overloading either the device or the hoist, and then remove each device from the hoist until it is needed again.
