Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that the hook safety latch was not functioning properly on the Dayton 4000 pound capacity crane, serial number GJLB-282-NR, located in the battery charging department: a.Wyandot, Inc. located in Marion Ohio: On or about November 20, 2006, the employer did not ensure the Dayton 4000 pound crane located in the battery charging area was equipped with a functioning safety latch. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to ensure the safety latch on the hook is functioning properly according to ASME B30.10 1999 "Hooks". No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that the pendant controls for the Dayton 4000 pound capacity crane, serial number GJLB-282-NR, located in the battery charging department were not labeled as to their function: a.Wyandot, Inc. located in Marion, Ohio: On or about November 20, 2006, the employer did not ensure the pendant controls for the Dayton 4000 pound crane located in the battery charging department were labeled as to their function. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to ensure the controls are labeled as to their function according to ASME B30.16 2003 "Overhead Hoists (Underhung) Safety Standard for cableways, cranes, derricks, hoists, hooks, jacks, and slings". No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
