employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by running blades:
a.187 Wheelwright Rd. Jobsite - A Walker ride-on mower, with a mowing deck
s/n of D-7 59330, was not equipped with functioning shutoff switch under
the
seat, on or about June 12, 2006.  A worker was severely injured when he was
struck by the running blades of the Walker mower.  The plug and section of
wire that ran to the shutoff switch under the seat had been removed.
ABATEMENT NOTE:  Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of
abatement would be to insure that interlock switch is functioning
correctly, as indicated in
the manufacturer's Owner's Manual.
