Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
in the foundry department were exposed to fire hazards from the
accumulation of aluminum dust
at the Chip Compactor from the absence of clean up procedures of fugitive
dust and the lack of
thorough safety inspections of the operating area where aluminum dust was
presence to ensure
that the equipment was in good condition and the proper work practices
were being followed as
required by NFPA 484, sections 4.4.2 and 4.6.4, on or about 8/28/06.

METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO:"
Follow the requirements of NFPA 484 sections 4.4 and 4.6 of the standard.
In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required
for this violation
(using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
