29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):     One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.    a) On or around April 5, 2012 in the Tool Room, employees were exposed to unguarded rotating parts and flying chips in that four lathes (Nardini IN2580T, Monarch manual, DA210, and TUM35) were not equipped with any type of guarding to protect the employees during operation of the lathes.    b) On or around April 5, 2012 in the Fab Area, employees were exposed to unguarded rotating parts and flying chips in that the PowerMatic drill press was not equipped with any type of guarding to protect the employees during operation of the drill press.    Abatement certification is required for this violation.  Use the Certification of Abatement form provided.
