North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire hazards due to inadequate housekeeping: a)facility - north end of plant, wood dust up to approximately 1-inch thick has accumulated on horizonal surfaces including piping, beams, electrical equipment and lighting fixtures due to poor housekeeping. One feasible and acceptable methods of abatement, among others, to correct this hazard is for the employer to the follow the procedures in NFPA document 664, Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities.
