The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a
place of employment
which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious
physical harm to employees in that employees working before sunrise were
operating golf carts
in areas with poor visibility:
a) On or about 09/23/06, employees were operating golf carts near a ramp
that was not clearly
visible and exposed to the hazard of being crushed by the golf cart.
Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method:
a) To prohibit employees from driving golf carts that are not equipped
with headlights during
the work shift when visibility is limited.
b) Provide additional lighting along routes used by employees when driving
golf carts during
times of limited visibility such as before sunrise or after sunset.
PLEASE NOTE: DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS
REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
