Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard during the handling of granite and marble slabs. a) Outside Storage Yard: An employee was not using proper granite slab handling procedures which resulted in the employee being struck and fatally injured by a falling granite slab, on or about December 6, 2006. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO PROPERLY TRAIN EMPLOYEES IN SLAB HANDLING PROCEDURES OF THE MARBLE INSTITUTE OF AMERICA. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
