Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to prolonged corrosive injuries: (a) Location - Battery service area: On or about 1/24/07, employees were exposed to potential eye injuries when the eye wash station in the battery service area had not been inspected. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means to correct this hazard would be to flush and inspect the eye wash in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions and ANSI Z358.1-1998.
