Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about July 2, 2008, employees moved a 2300 pound lathe by placing each of its four corners on Bond Heavy Duty Dollies (Model 2076) which had individual capacities of 525 pounds. Employees were exposed to being struck by the lathe in the event a dolly(s) failed while under a load which exceeded its capacity. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods include, but are not limited to: Complying with the capacity specifications for the dollies as documented in the Bond Caster and Wheel Corporation equipment specification document.
