Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that an employee was exposed to struck by hazard from the unexpected movement of a crane bridge: (a)Trinity Yachts, LLC, Gulfport, MS - On or about August 17, 2009, an employee was struck by the horizontal movement of a Davit crane bridge and traveling block while securing wiring to the crane's support structure. Among feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is to comply with Nautical Structures OH 3000-FB-144-502 Overhead Crane S.N. 16149 Technical Manual Section 2: Operating Instructions, page 29, " Warning: Always use proper lock out procedures when working on electrical or hydraulic systems" and Section 2, page 29, Warning: To minimize potential for personal injury, ensure that crane operators are property trained in crane operations including instruction in safe operating procedures."
