Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falls from heights: a) Warehouse A wooden pallet was placed on the forks of a Raymond forklift and was being used as a personnel lift platform for access to the upper shelves of the racks in order to pick items. Violation disclosed on or about 12/10/07. FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS, AMONG OTHERS,TO CORRECT THE HAZARD ARE TO: 1) Follow the guidelines listed in the Industrial Truck Standards Development Foundation B56.1- 2005, Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks, Section 4.17, Elevating Personnel, and with a platform that meets B56.1-2005, Section 7.37, Platforms-Elevating.
