Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to foot pedal mechanism that were not guarded to prevent the unintentional operation, activation, and/or cycling of machines and/or machine components: a)production floor, extruder, on or about March 25, 2011, the foot pedal that was utilized to operate the extruder was not guarded. Abatement Note: Among other methods, feasible and acceptable means to correct the condition include equipping the foot pedal with a treadle guard.e
