Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard. a)Maintenance Department:Employee was using the top section of a Werner fiberglass extension ladder as the bottom section to access a fan. The ladder section was not equipped with slip resistant pads, on or about 5/28/08. ABATEMENT NOTE:AMONG OTHER MEANS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WOULD BE FOR THE EMPLOYER to Ensure that all employees are trained in the proper use of ladders as outlined in the Werner Fiberglass Ladder Technical Manual 2001/2002.
