Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause dealth or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to fall hazards while utilizing a rope descent system. Location: Tai Tung Village apartments, 232 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA An employee was exposed to a fall hazard, of nine stories, where their lifeline was not rigged independent of the transportable counterweighted outrigger used to support the employee while washing windows. Also the outrigger was tied back to a fence located on the ground with a knot. A feasible abatement method includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that rope descent systems, transportable counterweighted outriggers, and personal fall arrest systems are installed and used in accordance with ANSI/IWCA I-14.1.CA
