Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards: On or about 06/16/2008, at 10000 NW 25th Street, in Miami, Florida, employees were exposed to struck-by and caught between hazards when semi-trailers were operated in reverse and visibility to the rear is limited. Among other methods of abatements, one feasible and useful method to correct the hazard is for the employer to develop a policy stating that semi-trailers are not to be moved until the driver has verified, or another employee has verified and communicated to the driver that the second driver has been removed from the rear of the trailer. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
