29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. [63 FR 33450, June 18, 1998] Maintenance area - On or about June 04, 2014, employees required to work on or around batteries were exposed to corrosive liquids (battery acid). The employer did not ensure that the eye wash station in the vicinity was readily available for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes. The eye wash station was encapsulated with a plastic cover and blocked by equipment as well as a pallet of batteries. Employees were thereby by exposed to hazards associated with chemical contact.

29 CFR 1910.157(g)(1): Where the employer has provided portable fire extinguishers for employee use in the workplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage fire fighting. Throughout the facility - On or about June 04, 2014, portable fire extinguishers were provided in the workplace for employee use. The employer did not provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principles of portable fire extinguisher use and the hazards associated with incipient stage firefighting.

29 CFR 1910.132(h)(1): Except as provided by paragraphs (h)(2) through (h)(6) of this section, the protective equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), used to comply with this part, shall be provided by the employer at no cost to employees. Maintenance Area - On or about June 04, 2014, employees were required to work with grease, oils, and solvents. The employer failed to provided adequate personal protective equipment such as gloves, at no cost to the employees.
