Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard in the event of a machine tip over: a) Pottsville St. bridge, Port Carbon, PA: The employer did not verify that the bridge could support the weight of a John Deere 330LC excavator that broke through the sidewalk portion of the bridge causing the excavator to tip over, on or about June 25, 2009. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURE'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ASSURING SUFFICIENT SITE FOOTING STRENGTH TO PROPERLY SUPPORT THE EQUIPMENT. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
