Condition:Employees worked on a steeply sloped deflection plate, removing
accumulated spilled
ore that was subject to dislodgement, which exposed employees to being
struck and
crushed by pieces of aggregated ore.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement to
correct this hazard is to prohibit
employees from accessing and working from or below the deflection plate
during the cleaning process and to
always use power washers from the above platforms to clean the deflection
plate.
