Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by sharp pieces. Pierre construction Group, Inc. - PVC pipe was being used to transport compressed air for pneumatic tools and cleaning. Air pressure was maintained at approximately 100 p.s.i., on or about 11/19/08. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to:" Only use material with shatter resistance properties. (Reference Plastic Pipe Institute document). In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
