to ensure that railcar switching operations were performed safely.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THESE HAZARDS IS:
1) The company should re-assess its current policies and procedures
pertaining to the safe
movement of railcars within its company spur. The employer should conduct
retraining for
employees, who are not meeting safety standards, and review its
disciplinary policies to ensure
the enforcement of work rules.
In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required
for this violation
(using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
