Section 6(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to: cuts and/or fractures.
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a: cortaduras y/o fracturas.
On October 13, 2009 at Crown Beverage Packaging PR Inc (dba Crown Cork PR),
Puerto Rico Industrial Park, Carolina,  employees were observed exposed to
cuts and or
fractures Hazard.  An employee (mechanic) was observed calibrating a Body
Maker
Crown #17, model 76 D&I Ironer, serial number 76-84; in order to verify
the air flow,
he placed his hands inside the machine.
On 09/18/2009 a mechanic resulted injured when he placed his hand inside
the
machine while performing an air flow verification.  Unexpectedly, a
machine part
(a pinch axis) moved and injured the right hand of the employee.
On or about june 2009, it was documented that another employee resulted
injured
in the same circumstances as described above.
ABATEMENT NOTES: Among other methods, one feasible methods to reduce this
hazard is: Providing an air flow meter in order to maintain employees'
hands away
from pinch point.
El 13 de octubre de 2009 en Crown Beverage Packaging PR Inc (dba Crown
Cork PR),
Puerto Rico Industrial Park, Carolina, se observo empleados expuestos a
riesgo de
cortaduras y/o fracturas.  Se observo un mecanico que estaba calibrando la
Maquina
Crown #17 Body Maker, modelo 76 D&I Ironer, numero de serie 76-84; para
verificar
el flujo de aire, el colocaba sus manos dentro de la maquina.
En 09/18/2009 un mecanico resulto lesionado cuando coloco su mano dentro de
la maquina mientras llevaba a cabo la verificacion del flujo de aire, una
parte de
la maquina (eje) se movio e hirio la mano derecha del empleado.
En o alrededor de junio 2009, se documento que otro empleado resulto
lesionado
en igual circunstancia descrita arriba.
NOTA PARA CORRECCION: Entre otros metodos, un metodo factible es:
Proveer un "air flow meter"para mantener las manos de los empleados
alejadas
de los puntos de pilladura.
