Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm, including severe burns to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of fire, deflagration or other hazards from dust explosion: The cardboard air-material separation system for the #4 BGM line, the 98" corrugator line and the baler were located inside the building and did not have explosion protection systems. NOTE: Reference- NFPA 654 Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids. One possible means of abatement is to move the dust collectors to a safe location outside and provide appropriate explosion protection.
