Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by/caught between hazards: a.Worksite: Employees were exposed to being struck by trusses measuring 80 feet in length, during installation. The employer failed to ensure that adequate temporary bracing, including top chord, diagonal, lateral, and horizontal bracing were properly installed, as determined on or about 07/06/09. ABATEMENT NOTE: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTANCE METHOD OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION ON ROOF TRUSS ERECTION OR THE BSCI-03 ISSUED BY THE WOOD TRUSS COUNCIL OF AMERICA AND THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE.

ABATEMENT NOTE: AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTANCE METHOD OF ABATEMENT WOULD BE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION ON ROOF TRUSS ERECTION OR THE BSCI-03 ISSUED BY THE WOOD TRUSS COUNCIL OF AMERICA AND THE TRUSS PLATE INSTITUTE THAT WERE DEVELOPED FOR AN ASSUMED LOAD CONSISTING OF THE DEAD LOAD WEIGHT OF THE TRUSS, PLUS THE WEIGHT OF TWO WORKERS AND THEIR EQUIPMENT AT A GIVEN TIME ASSUMED TO WEIGHT 250 LBS FOR THE REQUIRED WEIGHT LIMIT.
