Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being crushed and struck by a Genie AWP 40S lift while employees were transporting the lift. (a) Location - 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA: On or about 05/28/2009, employees were exposed to being crushed and struck by a Genie AWP 40S lift while transporting the lift. Among other means, a feasible and useful method to abate this hazard is to ensure employees are trained and familiar with the operators manual prior to using or transporting the unit.
