North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to combustible dust fires and/or explosions: a)Powder Room/polymer blending room- employees were exposed to the hazards associated with combustible/explosive dust produced during the blending operation. Abatement Notes: Among other methods of abatement one feasible method would be to follow the guidelines provided in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 654 Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of Combustible Particulate Solids.
