Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the condition(s) listed below: Robinson Drilling of Texas, LTD, Rig #21, Halff Estate 20 #15, Upton County, Tankin, Texas. For the period of time up to and including May 12, 2010, the employer did not ensure that employees were trained in fall protection. One employee fell 90 feet from the derrick board to the rig floor when he disconnected the lanyard from the safety harness. This condition exposed employee(s) to fall hazards which can cause injuries such as, but not limited to, broken bones and death. Feasible and Acceptable Abatement Methods would include: 1. Ensure that all employees are trained in fall protection. 2. Enforce safety harnesses attached to lanyard at all times. "Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d), the employer must provide documentation that this violation has been abated within 10 calendar days after the abatement date.
