employees were exposed to electrical hazards due to improper installation
and use of
electrical equipment:
a)On or about January 12, 2010, and at times prior, Tagawa Greenhouse
Enterprises
did not ensure that employees were protected from electrical hazards.
Some instances
include, but are not limited to:
1)Missing covers and knock-outs throughout the ranges.
2)Inadequate strain relief on electrical cords throughout the ranges.
3)A non-GFCI plug next to the water fountain and on a boom in Range 2.
4)Electrical cords run through openings in walls.
5)Damaged extension cords throughout the ranges.
Among others, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct
this hazard is to
establish a program that trains workers on the recognition of electrical
hazards, doing regular
inspections of electrical equipment, and performing appropriate
maintenance and repairs.
