recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to

were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the load should the overhead
hoist and underhung
crane fail:
a)The following overhead hoists had missing safety latches on the lifting
hooks
and no frequent or periodic inspections were conducted.
1.Fabrication Bay, on or about 4/14/10:  A 3 ton Harrington overhead
hoist attached to a bridge crane at the south end had a missing safety
latch and had not been inspected and four other 3 ton Harrington
overhead hoists attached to bridge cranes had not been inspected.
2.Detail Shop, on or about 4/14/10:  A Coffing 1/4 ton overhead hoist
had a missing safety latch and had not been inspected.
Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct
these
hazards are to:
1.Install safety latches on the lifting hooks in accordance with ANSI
B30.16-
1993, Section 16-1.2.9.
2.Inspect the overhead hoists in accordance with ANSI B30.16-1993, Section
16-
2.
Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
