Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to fall hazards: On or about 07/07/10 employees at the 1 Thompson Road location were exposed to approximately 6 foot falls from an aluminum stepladder. Employees would stand on the top step to gain access to the roof. Among other efforts, a feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to use a longer ladder and follow the manufacturer's recommendation.
