Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazard: (a)Skyline Products Inc, at 4530 Highway 6 and 24, De Beque, CO: On 8/18/10, Skyline Products Inc did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard. One employee utilized a Sky Hook model 85 HD telescoping boom crane with attached personnel platform to ascend to the platform of a truck stop billboard. The employee was not wearing a body harness nor was he tied off to the boom's anchor point. This condition exposed the employee to an approximate thirty foot fall hazard. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with ASME B30.23-1998, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), An American National Standard, "Personnel Lifting Systems". Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (See enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
