Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct this
hazard are:
1.Add explosion protection systems to the shredders and exhaust
ventilation such as, but
not limited to, deflagration venting, deflagration suppression, explosion
relief valves,
flame front diverters, flashback arrestors, or isolation valves;
2.Add dust collectors to the exhaust ventilation systems equipped with
explosion protection
systems;
3.Conduct and implement the recommendations of a process hazards analysis,
completed
by an individual knowledgeable about combustible dust and NFPA
654,Prevention of Fire
and Dust Explosions from the Manufacturing, Processing, and Handling of
Combustible
Particulate Solids, and/or comply with the prescriptive provision of
Chapters 6 through
12 of NFPA 654.
