or locking devices
engaged.
AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT
METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS:
Follow the instruction in the Lifting it Right A Safety Manual from the
Automotive Lift Institute
page 16, which states "If you'll be working under a lift that does not
have a locking device or
is below the point where the locking device engages, place four jack
stands under the vehicle's
frame or suspension for support."
NOTE: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the
inspection case
file, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of
abatement for this
violation as normally required by 29 CFR 1903.19.
