Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: Employees working in the woodshop were exposed to fire and explosion hazards in that the filter bag dust collectors were located inside the building and were not protected with deflagration or suppression protection for the following locations: a)Northtech Dust Collector located near the CNC Machine. b)Dust Collector located next to the table saw. c)Dust Collector located next to the garage door by the strip saw. d)Woodtek Dust Collector next to the dado/shaper machine. e)Dust Collector next to the panel saw. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to move the dust collectors outside or equip the dust collectors with explosion prevention, suppression or venting systems as reference in NFPA 664 , Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities, paragraph 8.2.2.5.1.4, 2007 edition. 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
