North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a)bravo one, inside the building, at the OMSG 1 and 2 tumble blasters and the manual abrasive blast room, due to the creation of explosive dust from Amasteel shot blast material, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards because there was no equipment to vent an explosion to the outside of the building. b)bravo one, inside the building, at the dust collection ducting for the OMSG 1 and 2 tumble blasters and the manual abrasive blast room, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards created by the dust because the machines and dust collection ducting systems were not bonded and grounded to control ignition hazards from static sparks. c)bravo one, at the outside dust collectors serving the OMSG 1 and 2 tumble blasters and the manual abrasive blast room, and their associated ducting, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards in that there was no equipment to vent an explosion. d)bravo one, at the outside dust collectors serving the OMSG 1 and 2 tumble blasters and the manual abrasive blast room, and their associated ducting, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards in that the dust collectors and their associated ducting were not bonded and grounded to control ignition hazards from static sparks. e)bravo one, at the outside dust collectors, where dust is dropped into 55 gallon metal drums under the collectors, the metal drums were not grounded and their lids were not bonded to the drums or the dust collectors, exposing employees to a fire and explosion hazard due to the failure to control ignition hazards from static sparks. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to abate these hazards is to comply with national Fire Protection agency (NFPA) 484, "Standard for Combustible Metals" (2009), Chapter 12, Sections 12.1.5, 12.2.1.4.4, 12.2.5, 12.2.10, and 12.2.10.2.
