Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees in that employees were exposed to struck-by hazards: (a)On or about 10/12/11 - Caterpillar Front-end Loader, 7ZM0627-914G-CAT, the back-up alarm was not in working order. Among other feasible abatement methods, one feasible way to correct this condition is to ensure that the back-up alarm is working before placing the machine in service and by conducting regular preventative maintenance on the equipment in accordance with the operation and maintenance manual.
