Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:10/02/13 Location:Rooftop Condition:An employee removing preexisting roofing material and installing new roofing material on a 7/12 sloped roof was exposed to falls while located 30 feet above ground when his vertical lifeline as part of a positioning device system was tied and knotted around the roof truss's peak. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to follow ANSI/ASSE A10.32-2004 Section 3 General Requirements: 3.7.3 Knots are not allowed in lifelines, lanyards or other direct-impact components. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
