Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 12/17/13 Location:Back Area of Plant Condition:Employees were exposed to serious eye injury from sulfuric acid from batteries, a corrosive, in that the emergency eye wash did not have enough water pressure to continuously flush both eyes simultaneously. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to provide suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes that maintains 15 minutes of continuous flow in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z358.1-2009 "Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment."
