Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:On or About 12/18/13 Location:Northwest Side of Building EE Condition:Where employees were mechanically mixing masonry cement, a corrosive having a pH of 12-13, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided in the immediate working area for emergency use. Among other methods, one feasible method and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to install self contained portable eyewash stations on the same work level, and within 10 seconds walking distance of where mechanical pumping/mixing of masonry cement is occurring, in accordance with American National Standards Institute ANSI Z358.1-2009, Section 5.4.2.n
