OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to bursting PVC pipe:    a) In the edge glue building: on September 17, 2011, and at times prior thereto, compressed air was distributed in a one inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe system that was not enclosed in a conduit or casing.    Note: Abatement certification is required for this item .    Abatement Note:  Among other methods some feasible and acceptable means of abatement to correct this hazard are to replace the PVC pipe with a steel pipe system designed for compressed air or encase the PVC system in a shatter-resistant material.
