29 CFR 1926.501(b)(11): "Steep roofs." Each employee on a steep roof with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) ormore above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems with toeboards, safety net systems, or personal fall arrestsystems. a. On or about October 7, 2011 - at the above addressed jobsite, employees performing roofing operations approximately 40 to 50 feet above the ground, on a roof pitch of 8 in 12, were not protected from falls, thereby exposing the employees to fall hazards.
